Abstract
The goal of this article is to present the profile of the forgotten Jewish author writing in Polish, Aniela Korngut (1868–1942). In her works, she tackled important social issues related to emancipation of women, assimilation of Jews, conflicts between generations, social stereotypes. She is an author of novellas, novels, dramas, and short stories published in “Izraelita” magazine with which she cooperated for a few years. The main protagonists of her novel 'Struggle', published under the assumed name Juliusz Piasecki, are strong, intelligent women, aware of their own capabilities. They undertake to fight for their independence, while acting to the benefit of society. The subject of the novel fits into the important discussions about the role and place of women in the society at the threshold of the 20th century.
