Abstract

The article focuses on Elżbieta Janikowska – a Białystok librarian, promoter of reading among children and a children’s writer. It presents a brief biography of the author and then discusses selected issues from her novels and fairy tales, such as: therapeutic components of
fairy tales; misfit motif; personal values and role models, the motif of sacrifice and death of a child. The text describes the bibliotherapeutical character of Elżbieta Janikowska’s children’s literature.
