Abstract

The author discusses the process of creating a database - part of the integrated library system ALEPH - that collects publications and artistic achievements of the staff and PhD students at Bialystok University of Technology. There are numerous advantages of the system: its flexibility, versatility, and adaptability to the management of different data. The author mentions the possibility of cataloguing all the information and sources (texts, graphics) related to the academic staff with a view to carrying out an assessment of their academic achievements. Apart from the individual assessment, the system enables the assessment of the whole institution - a dynamics of its development - thus paving the way for future structural and organizational changes.
