Abstract

The article is divided into two parts. The first part studies the history of the book collection owned by the 18th century orientalist Antoni Muchliński, based on the correspondence with Ignacy Polkowski and F. Kosiński. The location of the manuscripts purchased by Muchliński was previously investigated, whereas this study sheds some light on the unknown fate of his books. A number of these volumes were bought by
Rev. Ignacy Polkowski after Muchliński’s death. The second part of the text is concerned with the 18th century copy of Grammatica Arabica cum Fabuli Lokmani written by Thomas Erpenius, which was discovered in the Poznań University Library and which contains Muchliński’s autograph as well as a list of 40 books from his oriental library.
