Abstract

The article looks at the biography and works of Wiesław Szymański, a late poet, prose writer and radio journalist from Białystok. The author presents Szymański’s works in a chronological order, highlighting their main problems and classifying them genealogically. Far from being a scholarly review, the article assumes a personal, subjective perspective on the journalist (whom the author knew personally). Szymański is depicted as a versatile and ambiguous figure: the man who published ten volumes of poetry, one volume of prose, one volume of theatre plays; the editor of numerous publications; and the author of radio programmes dedicated to culture.
