Abstract

The article discusses Marta Juza’s book entitled: Między wolnością a nadzorem. Internet w zmieniającym się społeczeństwie [Between Freedom and Surveillance. The Internet in a Changing Society], in which the author makes a diagnosis concerning the influence of the digital world on real life. According to the writer, today everything is shallowed, ignored, arrogantly reduced to the position of a commodity and dictated by various markets. Surroundedness is subject to one su-perficial rule: watching, peeping, and “external” observation which to a great deal manages perception. The author of this article, in the con-text of the conducted analysis, states that although Marta Juza’s reflec-tions may be equipped with addenda inclined towards the categories of posthumanism and transhumanism, it is always worth remembering about the threats posed by the Internet.
