Abstract

In his article, Marcello Ruta analyses Walter Benjamin’s essay entitled ‘The notion of criticism of German Romanticism’ (1917–1919). The entire text is divided in three parts. The first one is entitled: ‘Ontologisation of Fichte’s concept in Benjamin’s reflexions on an aesthetic theory of early Romanticism’. The second is entitled: ‘The role of a reflexion in Benjamin’s views on an early Romantic notion of artistic criticism’. The last one describes the ‘Role of a reflexion in Benjamin’s view on an early Romantic notion of formal irony’. The researcher mainly highlights an extraordinary well-read profile of Benjamin, analysing fragments of his works and juxtaposing views with such writers as Hegel, Kirkegaard, Schlegel or Nietzsche.
