Abstract
The article attempts to describe an exceptional role still played by Julian Tuwim in Polish literature. The author tries to achieve his goal with the use of two tools. The first one is the role of a prophet, inscribed in the tradition of Polish literature, in particular poetry, for a short time bygone after regaining independence in 1918, but still useful with regard to Tuwim as a reference point due to an exceptional significance of his works and the poet himself, especially in the interwar period, but also in the years 1939–1945 and after the war. The second tool used for identifying and describing the author of ‘Polish Flowers’ is an epic ‘The Tale of Igor’s Campaign’, translated by Tuwim, used in the article in order to describe the life of the anti-prophet, being in the lead of interwar poets.
