Abstract
“Toy book” is a very broad term and in many ways imprecise, which results, among others, from the variety of editorial techniques and solutions used in it, the origin of types from different sources and times, as well as legal and commercial issues. The term “enriched book” has been therefore proposed and described, allowing hence to solve many problematic issues, as well as the division going beyond the applied classifications based only on the technical side and editorial and polygraphic solutions (ancillary, less important). Many important issues accompanying this type of book were also taken into consideration, including the sources of its particular groups, the load-bearing capacity of certain topics, figures and images leaning to the creation of enriched books, image and text relations, the understanding of the toy and the relationship between the book and the toy, the art of editing and imagination, science and entertainment, the issue of reception and children’s and an adult recipients. As a widely understood toy book, the enriched book does not function only in a children’s room and within the margins of science, but on the borderline of many disciplines: art, editing, book history, literary studies, pedagogy, psychology, design, game theory, media and social sciences, hence it is worth approaching it with an interdisciplinary manner.
