The comparison of erudite content in the field of natural history with fragments of Mikołaj Rej works brings interesting insights. It turns out that the crow occupies a prominent place in the allegorical zoo of Rej. Allegoric interpretations related to the theme of this bird in Nagłowiczanin’s works do not go beyond the traditionally accepted interpretations. Unpleasant croaking, a raven exterior, or even the crow’s thieving habits did not deprive her of universal friendliness. Already in Aesop’s fairy tales you can admire the extraordinary cunning and thrift of this bird. She has always surprised everyone with her ingenuity and resourcefulness. In the works of the Fathers of the Church, as well as in bestiaries, one can find information about the exemplary performance of crows in their parental duties. The cycle of motifs and symbolic images from the world of nature mentioned here serve to reflect upon the secrets of human nature. No wonder the nature of the "village knight" became an emblem of acceptance of his existence for Rej. People like her should enjoy small and seemingly insignificant things. Striving for perfection should not obscure the sense of happiness combined with gratitude for the countless gifts that the Creator has given man.&nbsp;</p> ER -
