It is in particular devoted to the issue of silence, which is related to the presence of the Holocaust in the writers’ works and its personal reception due to the Jewish origin signalled in their autobiographical traces. The analysis of such creativity allows for the formulation of two key conclusions. First of all, both writers are close to Norwid’s tradition of the poetics of the fragment. Brandys’ prose and Jastrun’s poems express a conviction that the world cannot be grasped in its entirety. Secondly, they both define silence in their own way. Silence becomes a key element in building a sense of identity, the acceptance of Jewish origin in times of war and persecution. Silence is an indispensable element of suffering and creation.&nbsp;</p> ER -
