Why “Bibliotekarz Podlaski”?

The thematic scope of the articles published is by no means limited. We are interested in what may be broadly understood as the humanities within a transdisciplinary, supra-regional and supranational approach. However, the head office of the journal's publisher is located in Białystok, the largest city in north-eastern Poland, located in the Podlaskie Province. This special region, which is the geographical and spiritual borderland between Western and Eastern Europe, combines linguistic, national, social as well as historical and cultural variations. For this reason, an important goal of “Bibliotekarz Podlaski” is to promote those specific features of the region that help to overcome stereotypes, prejudices and narrow-mindedness, raising people’s level of sensitivity and social self-acceptance.
