Abstract

The article concerns an unpublished work of Stanisław Baczyński, whose typescript, which is not the final version of the work, is in the writer’s archives, kept in the collections of the Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw. The work, characterising the state of European civilisation and culture after the First World War (and predicting directions of their development) was created in the second half of the 1920s. The announcement of the publication of Propozycje, Studia nad duchem współczesnej kultury europejskiej [Proposals, Studies on the Spirit of Modern European Culture] was on the cover of Baczyński’s book Losy romansu [The Fate of the Romance] (1927), but for unknown reasons Proposals were never published (two small excerpts were published in Baczyński’s periodical “Wiek XX” [20th Century] in 1929 and 1930). This article announces an edition of this work, which has not lost its relevance to this day.
