Abstract

Zbigniew Herbert’s poetry has an axiological character – inclining towards certain values. The poet is in favor of building values. Also, discourse about homeland is part of the search for meaning. This is an important motif in Herbert’s work. This article presents Herbert’s homeland as „bleeding wound”, the dominant of Report from the besieged City, the homeland of the unbreakable, the homeland in the spirit of Elzenberg’s philosophy. In poetic talk about the homeland Herbert is close to the romantic paradigm.
