Abstract
In the novel About My Mother, published in 2008, the author shares with readers intimate details referring to his childhood and presents the last months of his mother’s life with Alzheimer’s. The aim of the article is to analyze the forms of experiencing the disease, pain and suffering of a close person and formulating reflections on transience in a broader cultural perspective.
