"Bibliotekarz Podlaski" Vol 53 No 4/2021

Dear Sir or Madam,

we would like to invite you to co-create the thematic issue 4/2021 of “Bibliotekarz Podlaski” entitled:

From Baczyński to Różewicz. Transformations of literature in Poland: tradition, reception, perspectives

The lead editor is: prof. Dariusz Kulesza and dr hab. Tomasz Tomasik, prof. AP.

Deadline for submitting texts: 15 September 2021.

January 2021 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński. In October of the same year it will be 100 years since Tadeusz Różewicz was born. As part of the celebrations of both special anniversaries, we are sending you an invitation to contribute to the next volume of the “Bibliotekarz Podlaski” in 2021. Baczyński and Różewicz belonged to a generation doomed to confront World War II. The former determined an exceptionally brave optimum of Polish literature’s direct response to the war and occupation catastrophe. The latter marked Polish post-war poetry and Polish drama, giving both these genres a new shape on the ruins of the previous literature. We are interested not only in studies encompassing all literary genres practised by both authors, but also in prose and dramatic attempts by the author of Pokolenie. We look forward to receiving papers on the changes in the state of Polish literature that took place under Baczyński’s and Różewicz’s influence at the intersection of Romantic tradition, the achievements of the interwar period, and the literary theory and practice of “Sztuka i Naród”. We ask about the ways of reading the works of both artists, which have been preserved (but are they permanent?) in the works of Wyka, Kwiatkowski, Przybylski, but also Kelera, Puzyna, Nycz or Skrendo. We look forward to contemporary analyses, evoking, verifying or even contesting the latest reading methods and referring to (pop-)cultural issues. We do not intend to abandon traditional and fundamental themes related to history, existence and God, nor questions about the place of Baczyński and Różewicz in the history of Polish literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.

“Bibliotekarz Podlaski” is a scientific, scored journal – 20 points according to the current list of the Minister of Education and Science; a beneficiary of the MNiSW ministerial programme “Support for scientific journals” in 2019-2020.
