Abstract

The article focuses on Francysk Skaryna, a notable representative of Belarussian culture. In view of the approaching 500th anniversary of the first print in the Belarussian Cyrillic script, the author emphasizes the necessity to critically reconsider Skaryna’a achievements, to assess his importance for contemporary culture, and his status of a literary character.
