Abstract
Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński and Tomas Tranströmer are both „common” and „separate” poets. On the basis of examples of the lyrical compositions of both poets, the presence of the same motifs, similarity in perceiving and describing existence as well as convergence and discrepancy in the interpretation of different semantic fields (nature, city, death, disease, time, art, light, music) were shown. Some form of „closeness” of the Polish and Swedish poets is revealed by a similar human image outlined in their lyric poetry, being weak, sick, fragile in existential terms, but strong in contact with art, or fulfilling themselves most fully in love.
