Abstract

This article is a review of the monograph by Prof. Leszek Libera, working at the University of Zielona Góra, entitled ‚Mickiewicz’ (Zielona Góra 2015), dedicated to the creativity and life of the greatest Polish romantic Adam Mickiewicz (1798–1855). Libera has divided his sketches, studies and essays into three groups, in turn: Creativity, Daily life, and Medical dilemmas. As noted by the reviewer, Libera’s work is characterized by excellent philological technique combined with a talent for discovering new meanings in seemingly well-known texts, as well as a literary talent. One of the drawbacks of the book is the lack of a note or postscript from the Author, and a plain graphic design. In the conclusion, we read that the book will still become a classic in research on Mickiewicz.
