Abstract

The article – half an interpretative essay, half an academic review – discusses the anthology of contemporary Polish poetry, entitled ‚City of Memory. A Bilingual Anthology of Contemporary Polish Poetry’, edited and translated by Michael J. Mikoś with an introduction by Andrzej Niewiadomski; Bloomington, Indiana 2015, Slavica Publishers Indiana University. The researcher discusses this publication from several perspectives, primarily from the perspective of the American reader and the Polish audience. The value of the anthology is here its apolitical character, although this approach would require some assumptions in the introduction, which are absent. The final evaluation of the book is, however, entirely positive; the researcher encourages all, i.e. Polish and English-speaking readers, to read the anthology of Polish contemporary poetry by Michael J. Mikoś.
